Add smart control to an existing opener — or fit a new smart opener
Add-on upgrade — the cheapest path if your existing opener still runs well. A myQ Smart Garage Hub, B&D Smart Phone Control adapter, Meross MSG100HK or Tailwind iQ3 wires into the wall-button terminals plus a tilt sensor on the top door panel. Typical install: about 45 minutes. No changes to the drive, rail or remotes.
New smart opener — if the existing opener is over 12-15 years, noisy, or on a fixed-code remote, a new smart-ready DC opener is usually the better spend. Smart controllers work best when they're commissioned properly on install — signal-tested from the garage (Wi-Fi is often weak at the far end of the house), tilt sensor bolted level on a rigid part of the top panel, safety photo beams checked before we enable remote open, and alerts test-fired to each household phone. We hand over with the app installed and paired to your devices, not a QR code and a wave.
