Replacement remotes & keypads
Lost your remote, cracked the case, kids flushed one? We carry genuine and quality aftermarket rolling-code remotes for every major brand on the truck — programmed on the spot at your driveway or at our workshop. Keypad wall entries mount to the outside of the garage frame and let you get in without a remote at all (great for tradies, kids and joggers).
If your existing opener is on an obsolete fixed-code frequency (27MHz or 303MHz) we can either swap the whole head unit for a modern rolling-code opener, or fit a plug-in code hopper that converts the receiver — often cheaper than a full replacement on newer physical drives.
Signs your motor needs replacing
- Grinding, screeching or shuddering — worn drive gears or a failed limit gearbox. Usually beyond economical repair on units over 10 years old.
- Motor runs but the door doesn't move — stripped nylon gear or snapped drive belt. Often repairable if the head unit is under 8 years old.
- Door reverses halfway or won't close — usually safety photo beams or the limit setting, but a failing PCB can also cause it. See our garage door repairs page for a fault checklist.
- Remotes stopped working simultaneously — dead receiver PCB or a wiped memory. Sometimes recoverable, often a sign the opener is on its way out.
- Older than 12-15 years, no battery backup, single-code remote — a full replacement almost always beats piecemeal repair.

Frequently asked questions
Can you replace a lost or broken remote?
Yes — usually same day. We carry genuine and quality aftermarket remotes for B&D (TB6/TB7 Tri-Tran+), Merlin (C945, E945M), ATA (PTX-4, PTX-5, TrioCode), Centurion (Nova, Classic) and older rolling-code units on the truck. Bring the broken remote or the make/model of your opener and we'll either program a new remote on the spot at our workshop or come out and pair it to the head unit. Keypad wall entries and steering-wheel-mount visor clips are also stocked.
My opener has stopped working — can you repair it or does it need replacing?
It depends on age and fault. Blown capacitors, worn drive gears, snapped drive belts, failed limit switches and dead PCBs on units under about 8-10 years old are usually worth repairing. Beyond that, or where the manufacturer no longer supports the board and remotes, we recommend swapping the head unit — you get a quiet DC motor, battery backup, LED lighting and a modern rolling-code remote for often less than the repair cost of a tired old opener. We'll quote both options honestly.
Which garage door motor is best for my door?
For a standard single or double sectional/panel-lift door under 12m² we fit Merlin SilentDrive Essential (MR655MYQ), B&D Controll-A-Door Diamond+ or ATA GDO-11 v5 — all quiet DC belt/rail drives with battery backup. For roller doors we prefer Merlin MT100EVO or B&D Roll-A-Pro; for heavy sectional or commercial doors we specify Grifco S-Drive or Merlin Commander Elite. On heavier rural and acreage doors we step up to Grifco LR-Drive or heavy-duty industrial motors — matched to weight, cycle count and duty.
